A Willing Participant Collects Two Bronze Telly Awards

A Willing Participant collects Bronze Telly Award for "Accelerating Student Achievement" documentary

A Willing Participant, Inc. is pleased to announce the receipt of two Bronze awards from the 2019 Telly Awards.

Both awards were received for A Willing Participant's work on behalf of Chicago-based Accelerate Institute. The educational nonprofit organization works to develop school leaders who close the achievement gap in urban education.

AWP was honored in the Non-Broadcast General Not-for-profit category for its production of the mini-documentary, "Accelerating Student Achievement." The documentary depicts the mission and achievements of Accelerate Institute.

"Accelerating Student Achievement" also recently received a Platinum award—the highest possible honor—in the 2019 Hermes Creative Awards.

A Willing Participant's second Bronze award was received in the Non-Broadcast General-Education category for its production of the mini-documentary, "2018 Ryan Award Profile: Jody Jones." The work shines a light on the achievements of Jones, principal of North Star Academy Clinton Hill Middle School in Newark, New Jersey.

AWP's Jody Jones documentary was honored in this year's Hermes Creative Awards as well, where the work received an Honorable Mention.

This year's Telly Awards marks the 40th anniversary of the award ceremony, which was established in 1979 to recognize excellence in television commercial productions.

Since then, the Telly Awards have evolved to honor video and television across multiple formats, with work being submitted from players in entertainment, publishing, advertising and emerging technology.

"Over a monumental year for The Telly Awards, we fully embraced work created for all screens,” Sabrina Dridje, managing director of the Telly Awards, wrote in a letter. “From branded content to social video, VR to commercials, this truly was a season that celebrated stories made for every screen.”

This year's winners include names such as Condé Nast, DC Entertainment, Microsoft and Netflix. Check out the winner reel below.
