AWP Debuts 2 New Mini-Docs for Educational Nonprofit Client
Joán Álvarez, founding principal of IDEA McAllen College Prep, sits for an August interview
A Willing Participant, Inc. is pleased to share two new mini-documentaries for our educational nonprofit client Accelerate Institute.
Both videos made their debut at Accelerate Institute's annual Impact Dinner at Chicago Cut Steakhouse on Sept. 26, where Accelerate honored its 2019 Ryan Award winners.
The videos produced by AWP helped to share their inspiring stories before an audience of Accelerate Institute stakeholders.
Ryan Award Winner Joán Álvarez
Joán Álvarez founded IDEA McAllen College Prep in McAllen, Texas as principal in 2012.
Under his exemplary leadership, IDEA McAllen students posted tremendous improvements in their state-testing results. Seventy-three percent of students were proficient in reading and math during the 2017-2018 school year, up from 52 percent during the 2014-2015 school year.
In a true show of his dedication to his students, Álvarez has pledged his entire $25,000 Ryan Award honorarium toward students' college tuition.

Ryan Award Winner Lindsey Robinson
Lindsey Robinson received the Ryan Award for her leadership as elementary principal of Chicago International Charter School Avalon in Chicago's Avalon Park neighborhood.
Under her leadership, CICS Avalon students outperformed city and state averages in state testing, and the school was ranked No. 2 in Illinois among all schools with a high concentration of African-American and low-income students.
Robinson is the first-ever Accelerate Institute Principal Fellow to receive the prestigious Ryan Award, making the honor even more special.
